When we hurt those we love!!!

September 24, 2009

Bill Vaughn once said, "A child is a being who gets almost as much fun out of a fifty-six dollar set of swings as he does out of finding a small green worm".

The statement itself is filled with innocence and smile. They say, "Child is the father of the man and the future of tomorrow". But with the growing exploitation and the way we are depriving him of his basic rights, the future seems dark and grim. Warmth happens to be a basic necessity, but it seems difficult to differentiate between love and lust. On one hand where a touch makes us feel loved and cared, it can also gives a feeling of rebelliousness and hurt. Depends ...when, where, from whom, and how we are touched. For a child it is not only difficult to say if the touch is safe or unsafe but they are too alone to complain about it. And those who can differentiate are too afraid to protest.
This young girl kept from sight
crying into the middle of the night
she fears that others will sense the shame
but was this girl really to blame?
This little girl who was full of belief
could not from him seem to find relief
she feels so dirty with her clothes which are tore
when she is being flung on the bedroom floor
this broken child lost her innocence at a very young age
through a trusted man's deliberate drunken rage
her little broken heart was full of pain
through the rest of her life it would stain
people would see the bruises that lay upon her face
she wanted and longed for her special place
while he was looking around
this little girl couldn't make a sound
she couldn't have her own bed
he would be there touching her instead
taking her clothes off he would touch
this haunted her little heart so much
she just wanted him to understand
but instead she got the back of his hand
night after night she endured this pain
never to be happy ever again!!!

The above poem is written by a 12year old girl whose father molested her for around four years and she had no one to complain and protect her.

In the recent survey it is stated that around 53% children in India are the victim of child abuse. Unsafe touching starts from the very first age and unluckily most abusers are known to the victims. As I write this, one little girl might be crying out in pain, one little boy is begging not to be touched anymore. Many children live through everyday being abused sexually, physically, and emotionally. “More than two million cases of neglect and physical abuse are reported annually. The only way to prevent child abuse is to spread awareness. Many NGOs are working towards this cause and I hope with help of sex education in schools children will be able to differentiate and understand if they are being loved or betrayed!!!

Longer Than 55 Fiction!!!

September 19, 2009

It is a story of a young guy who always used to wish he was a fly, so he could buzz around and go in people's houses and listen to what they are saying. He always used to pray, " I wish I could be a fly and listen to people talking", and then he would spend hours thinking, what it would be like to be a fly.

One night he had a dream that he was a fly and buzzing around he came upon this house that belonged to his beautiful teenage crush. A girl, he always wanted to be with. He thought to himself, "I should go into that girl's house first and listen to her conversations", but neither the door nor the windows were open. Then he thought, " May be I will just ring the bell and when she will open the door, I will buzz into her house and land on the wall to listen to all her conversations", but to his dismay, flies are not strong enough to ring the bell.

He decided to wait until she opens the door or the window herself. Then finally the door opened, and he buzzed in real quick and landed on the wall admiring the girl and her beauty. After sometime the phone rang and the girl picked it up and started a conversation. He flew and sat on a spiraled kinda thing, which smelled pretty good to him. He was so excited that he could finally sit so close to her and hear her talk. But when the girl started the conversation, he could not understand a word. He saw another fly who had also leaned on a long, spiraled thing and asked, " How come I can not understand what she is saying? "The other fly replied, " That's coz flies can not understand English as they speak Flynese.

The guy got so pissed and said, "This really sucks!!! I do not want to be a fly anymore and I am getting out of here", but when he went to buzz off, he could not move. "Argh! I can not move, it feels like my feet is glued to this long spiraled thing. Can you gime a hand", he said to the other fly.

"I can not move either, my feet are also stuck" said the other fly. He looked around and said to himself, " I wish, I had never wished that I was a fly, I want to be a human again". He was so scared that finally he woke up and it took him a minute to realize that he is still a human. He went to his balcony and saw his crush standing there, smiling :) and he realized how lucky he is to get his identity back and decided to try his best to get the girl !!!

P.S. - In the recent best seller " The secret" it is stated that, 'we do not always want what we ask for all our lives' and with this weird story, I just wanted to convey that it's a great feeling to be yourself as grass is not always greener on the other side and we can achieve a lot with the way we are even if we lack certain qualities, also we can not realize how lucky we are until and unless we experience the problems that others face :) ... Hope you enjoyed :)
Cheers!!!

Victim of your own thoughts !!!

August 30, 2009

Friends call him a live cricket encyclopedia. And why not, Shimu is a die hard cricket fan. Today is the day he was waiting for a long time. India v/s Australia final. After witnessing India’s bowling performance in the first half, Shimu was quite sure India will be lifting up the cup. While watching the Indian batting in the middle overs, he left his seat to grab a cuppa of coffee. When he returned back, to his dismay, he noticed India lost a key wicket. “Look at those crazy fellows, one good chance they have got to beat Aussies and they are fucking it up.” He said angrily to himself. This sequence continued a couple of times. Every time he left his seat, India lost a wicket. He got desperate and fear of losing started grappling his mind. He decided not to leave his seat until the match gets over. With more ups and downs, however without losing any wicket, India won the game. Shimu was probably the happiest man in the world; however, he became a victim of one of the most incomprehensible phenomenon of the world. Any idea what am I talking about here ? Well this phenomenon is called Superstition, which has gripped millions of people around the world centuries after centuries and has force them to believe in something which can never be explained using normal equations of cause and effect.

Most of the superstitions are usually harmless. Wearing your lucky shirt, lucky tie on your interview, writing an exam with a lucky pen. So what exactly is the problem with being superstitious? Superstition is so powerful that it leads you to attribute your successes to something outside yourself. This essentially means that you are held back from unleashing your own inner strengths and abilities. Loss of confidence. First problem!!! Even if something negative happens one is not going to attribute the failure of the outcome to the superstition. The person will start blaming other factors and not the superstition. One never kills his superstition and because of this the pile of superstitions keeps on increasing and then we graciously pass the baggage to our children who follow these superstitions blindly. Second problem !!!

Well, these little rituals of magic are so much part of our culture that we do not question these, forget questioning, we don't even notice these Don’t let superstition rule your mind and wreck your life. Instead, try hard, reaaaal hard, to overcome your fears by inspiring confidence in yourself, inspiring authority in your decisions, inspiring trust in your actions. You will then realize and enjoy the person who is truly you and not someone like Shimu.

Untitled !!!

August 25, 2009

Sometimes...I wonder what people mean when they say they are single and lonely. I have always believed, being lonely and being alone are two different statements altogether. Though being alone is momentary, loneliness gives you a feeling of solitude for life.

In one of the stories of Times of India, I have read about a man who sits in his rocking chair nursing a scotch every evening when the dusk sets in, listening to an old Mohd. Rafi's song ...
Dekhi zamaane ki yaari, bichde sabhi baari baari...in his calm surrounding with a sense of peace and a day well spent. No broken hearts here, but a man unwinding after a day at work. His book lying next to his pillow, the way he left it last night and a collection of around 2500 DVDs to choose from.

On the other hand a single women is a busy professional, juggling career and home, handling her life and loving it the way it is, with the guarantee that there's no place in her life for any other man.

Both the stories make me wonder if the characters are lonely or alone. Is it necessary to plan our whole life with one person or it's just a social responsibility? Can we lead a peaceful and satisfying life all alone just being ourselves and doing things we want to do once we set our mind to it? A time when we stop wandering and settle down just for ourselves or our dreams wrapped in a secure life and comfortable around ourselves. Would that be a selfish or self-centred existence or a freedom to liberty. Living our life to the fullest and wish to make each and every dream come true, and the best of our existence.

I remember how I reacted after reading a statement (There's nothing called ideal match) on a fellow blogger's blog today. I got offended and told him I did not like the statement, but now I wonder only if he was all wrong. A feeling of single hood not only gives you a sense of freedom but also a peaceful and fulfilled life. Movies, books, music, arts, hobbies, travelling, social work, friends and lots of dreams ~ life has hell lot of variety it seems that might limit itself because of many adjustments and sacrifices done in a relationship.

Is it really necessary to have a partner or companion for life or the emptiness can be filled with a large number of friends and variety of things that leaves no space for one's other half. A single person is free to pick and choose as many individuals as friends or to connect with the whole human species with no boundaries to set in. Sometimes people you share some magical moments with become the most cherished memory of your life, much more important than the one you spent your whole life with.

Just because someone is alone does not mean he is lonely and with so many things to explore in this beautiful life there's no chance to get bored. Rather we can devote our life in helping those in need, those who has nothing. Isn't someone who care and love people but not bound to any one person is much better than the one with a companion but not satisfied and happy with his life?

P.S. - Kinda bold statement huh ... :P

I Have Learned From Life !!!

August 18, 2009

It's a weird weird life. when you expect so much, it gives you a little and when you sit down with zero hope, it provides more than you have wished for. Though I am just 21 yrs and not old enough to explain what to expect from this unexpected life. But there are few things I have learned that I would love to share

  • Lord Buddha said, 'We achieve peace through meditation' yet I have learned, the most beautiful and peace giving thing in the world is to watch a little child asleep.
  • Share everything you want to in life with friends and with people you care for but never trust someone who says, ' trust me I can keep this secret'.
  • No matter how rich we become, we can never buy what really matters in life.
  • Sometimes crying is best response (esp in front of men :P).
  • There will always be someone in your life who annoys you no matter where you are and you will love it eventually and miss him when he is not there.
  • Mostly it's better to shut up but sometimes it's necessary to argue.
  • Believe me on this one - but it's not worth a calorie until n unless it is a CHOCOLATe :).
  • Though many people believe that you are what you wear or what your shoes tells about you but I have learned- Do not judge a person according to his appearance.
  • Well I am always in trouble because of honesty but I still believe honesty can solve any problem.
  • May be we should never let go of our deepest desire. But I have learned- letting go is the only way to keep something or someone in life.
  • It's good to be yourself and maintain your dignity. But I have learned - The word 'WE' always sounds better than the word 'I'.
  • We will always come across many intolerable people but there's still a difference between being angry and being cruel.
  • One thing I wish I have learned when I was 8 yrs is that - I wish I could have told my dad that I love him more time, before he passed away.
Two things I have learned in my TEENS :
  • Never be close friends with your best friend's boyfriend. Her boyfriend might start liking you and that can create problems in relationships (examples better hidden :P).
  • And finally - I am sure you all will agree on this one - Just do not expect your money back if you have lend it to a close friend... Friends will be friends :) lols :P
was this post lengthy ??? :P

Read It Till The End!!!

A father passing by his daughter's bedroom was astonished to see the bed was nicely made and everything was neat & tidy. He suddenly saw an envelope propped up on the center of the pillow. It was addressed "Dad"
with the worst premonition, he opened the envelope and read the letter:

Dear Dad,

It is with great regret & sorrow that I'm writing you, but I'm leaving home.I had to elope with my new boyfriend Tory because I wanted to avoid a scene with Mom & you. I've been finding real passion with Tory & he is so nice to me. I know when you meet him you'll like him too -even with all his piercing, tattoos, & motorcycle clothes. But it's not only the passion Dad, I'm pregnant and Tory said that he wants me to have the kid & that we'll be very happy together. Even though Tory is much older than I am (but,40 isn't so old these days... is it?), and has no money, really these things shouldn't stand in the way of our relationship, don't you agree?

Tory has a great CD collection; he already owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. It's true he has other girlfriends as well but I know he'll be faithful to me in his own way. Tory taught me that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone and he'll be growing it for us and we'll trade it with our friends for all the cocaine and ecstasy we want. In the meantime, we'll pray that science will find a cure for AIDS so that Tory can be cured; he sure deserves a long life!!

Don't worry Dad, I'm 15 years old now and I know how to take care of myself. Someday I'm sure we'll be back to visit so you can get to know your grandchildren.

Your loving daughter,
Tina

At the bottom of the page were the letters 'PTO',
Hands trembling, her father turned the sheet, and read:

P. S: Dad, none of the above is true.
I'm over at the
neighbor's house.I just wanted to remind you that there are worse
things in life than my report card that's in my desk's center drawer.
Please sign it and call when it is safe for me
to come home. I love you !!
